There are people base jumping into Yaletown at night (VIDEO)

Vancouver’s Yaletown neighbourhood was home to a different kind of nightlife this week.

And police are warning that it is not a good idea.

Just after 2 am on Monday, police received reports that three people had “just parachuted out of the sky,” said VPD Const. Jason Doucette.

The parachuters landed near Pacific Blvd and Homer Street, before running into a nearby park with their gear.

One concerned Yaletown resident caught part of the action on camera as it unfolded. (The actual jump isn’t caught on film, though.)

Doucette told Daily Hive that officers arrived and searched the area, but couldn’t find the jumpers. “We are still working to gather additional information with the hopes of identifying those involved,” he said.

This type of behaviour is “obviously dangerous” for a couple of reasons, Doucette explained.

“It is not only putting the safety of the jumpers at risk, but someone suddenly landing a parachute in the middle of a downtown intersection could have deadly consequences.”

Doucette added that police are asking anyone who witnesses this type of behaviour to contact them.
