Creating Dialogue and Action with Three Generations
Youth unemployment has reached a 14.1 percent high, with over 400,000 young people unemployed. The XYBOOM Conference addresses this issue along with the related baby boomer exit problem with a local, intergenerational approach: bringing 300 business professionals and youth together with experts from three generations – X,Y and Baby Boomer – for interactive, facilitated panel sessions and discussions. Featured panelists include Alden Habacon, UBC’s Director of Intercultural Undertanding Strategy Development, Shaun Carpenter, Associate Partner at Pinton Forrest & Madden, and Tara Mahoney of Gen Y Media Project.
Hosted by My Loud Speaker and funded by the Government of Canada, XYBOOM will be held on January 20th from 9-5pm at the Yaletown Roundhouse. This not-for-profit event will also include a live streaming feature for off-site youth participants, XYBOOM awards for businesses, case study reports on succession planning integration, and an interactive art installation created by Gen Why Media Project that will be at the W2 atrium from Jan 19-21st.
