Christmas is still a month away, but many folks are going little-kid-on-Christmas-morning crazy about the release of the Microsoft Xbox One today. The release takes place exactly one week after Sony launched their hotly-anticipated PlayStation 4.

Both new gaming systems will be in high demand during the holidays. Sony expects to sell 5 million units of the PlayStation 4 by the end of March, according to The Vancouver Sun. Microsoft wouldn’t speculate about sales, however demand should be comparable.

The big edge the PS4 has on the Xbox One is the price tag. At $100 less, the PS4 may come out ahead. At the same time, the Xbox One comes with an updated Kinect motion sensor, whereas PS4 fans have to pony up extra cash for the PS4 motion capture device camera known as the “eye.”

It also must be said that Microsoft Canada and Xbox One made a special effort to woo Vancouver. They kicked off their Canadian publicity campaign by depositing a giant Xbox console at Nelson and Seymour in late October. How can we forget that marketing stunt? It turned out that the console was filled with a horde of flesh-hungry zombies.

Which new gaming system is superior? Fondle the hardware. Then weigh in below.
