Bike in the buff as World Naked Bike Ride day hits Vancouver

Jun 3 2016, 11:40 pm

You will soon be able to free willy or unleash the girls while riding your bike through the heart of downtown Vancouver thanks to World Naked Bike Ride day.

On June 11 bikers in the buff will meet at Sunset Beach and cruise straight through downtown as naked as the day they were born to protest car culture and oil spills.

“We face automobile traffic with our naked bodies as the best way of defending our dignity and exposing the unique dangers faced by cyclists and pedestrians as well as the negative consequences we all face due to dependence on oil and other forms of non-renewable energy,” reads World Naked Bike Ride’s website.

The ride will be happening rain or shine, so make sure you bring your sunscreen to protect those rather sensitive areas not normally exposed to the elements. If you’re shy about being naked, nudity isn’t required to participant in the ride (but shoes are, even for the most daring, balls-out riders).

It’s recommended that you keep your clothes with you – once the ride is over, you might get arrested for public indecency if you decide to have a fun day downtown in the nude.

Decorate your bike, cover your bike seat for sanitation purposes, and have fun.
