Man dies after being thrown from excavator at West Vancouver worksite

West Vancouver Police, along with WorkSafeBC and the BC Coroner’s Service are investigating after a worker was killed on the job.

Just after 1:30 pm on Wednesday afternoon, emergency crews were called to a construction site in the 3100 Block of Chippendale Road.

According to police, a worker was thrown from an excavator when it accidentally overturned while working at the top of a steep slope.

Emergency crews rushed to the site, but the 34-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

West Vancouver Police Victim Services are assisting family and co-workers. WorkSafeBC and the BC Coroner’s Service have taken over the investigation.

The victim’s identity is not being released at this time, but his immediately family have been notified.
