In the spring of 2019, Wooden Fish Restaurant opened its doors and quickly became a local favourite. Located on the corner of Marine Drive and 14th Avenue (less than 10 minutes’ walk from Ambleside Beach), the authentic Vietnamese eatery proudly serves the North Shore and West Vancouver.
The team behind Wooden Fish wanted to make it easy for Vancouverites and visitors alike to experience Vietnamese culture through cuisine. This is why their menu offers a variety of dishes that are inspired by many different parts of Vietnam. In the kitchen, Wooden Fish chefs cook with passion, combining Western methods with traditional spices and using only fresh, local ingredients.
Some of the restaurant’s most popular items include vermicelli bowls, spring rolls, grilled chicken dishes, and salad rolls. The dish that draws a lot of returning guests? That’s the Hanoi beef noodle soup — beef flank on rice noodles (in Northern style) with a traditional Vietnamese 12-hour simmering beef broth.
Everything on the menu at Wooden Fish is available for delivery via DoorDash. The restaurant offers free delivery for seniors and for any orders placed that total over $60. Wooden Fish also offers a 50% discount for frontline healthcare workers, police officers, and firefighters.
