Dec 20 2017, 1:40 am

The woman who became trapped inside a clothing donation bin at a Pitt Meadows strip mall has succumbed to her injuries. According to RCMP, she passed away this morning.

On Sunday evening just before 11 p.m., the 45-year-old woman was found upside down in the incoming slot of the donation bin at Meadowtown Centre mall. A number of bystanders rushed to aid the unresponsive woman whose head was trapped against the door of the bin.

It is unclear how long she was trapped inside the bin or how she became trapped.

When firefighters arrived to the scene, they used the jaws of life to open the bin and rescue woman. She was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Few details for this incident are available.

There have been at least two donation bin trappings in Metro Vancouver since last year. A man without pants was rescued from a donation bin in Vancouver in August 2014 and New Westminster condo residents heard the screams of a man trapped inside a bin in January of this year.
