Woman on scooter killed in crash

A woman was killed in Surrey Sunday night after her scooter collided with a van.

According to Surrey RCMP, the fatal accident happened at around 8 p.m., March 29, at 96th Avenue and King George Boulevard when a woman on a four-wheel mobility scooter was hit by a van. The victim was taken to hospital where she later died from her wounds.

Police are not reporting the cause of the crash or the identity of the victim, but did say the driver of the van remained at the scene.

Roads around 96th Ave. and King George Blvd. were closed for several hours after the accident and re-opened shortly after 1 a.m.
