Woman killed in Vancouver parking lot collision

A 66-year-old woman who was hit by a pickup truck on Monday has succumbed to her injuries in hospital.

According to Vancouver Police, the incident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. at the parking lot of the Superstore located at 350 Southeast Marine Drive in Vancouver.

“A pickup truck was being driven up the ramp off of Prince Edward Street when it hit a woman who was walking along the foot path,” said Vancouver Police constable Brian Montague.

The woman was rushed to hospital with a serious head injury and later died. Police will not being releasing her identity to the public.

The driver remained at the scene and continues to cooperate with police in their investigation. At this time, it does not appear that speed, alcohol and distracted driving were factors in the fatal incident.

This was Vancouver’s sixth traffic related fatality of 2015 and the fourth fatality involving pedestrians.
