Vancouver Police investigate the death of a woman in Stanley Park

Update 10:15 p.m.: The victim of Vancouver’s 5th homicide has been identified as 33-year-old Thi Yen Le from Surrey.

Le was known to police and investigators believe she was targeted.

Investigators with the VPD Major Crime Section are investigating the city’s 5th murder of the year.

 

At about 6:00 a.m., police and paramedics responded to the area near Brockton Oval in Stanley Park after receiving a report of a woman in medical distress. Despite efforts to save the woman, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s identity has not yet been confirmed. Early indications in this investigation suggest that this was not a random attack and that the woman was targeted.

A large area around Brockton Oval has been blocked off with police tape as investigators, the VPD Forensic Identification Unit, and additional officers are brought in to gather evidence.
