Wishes + Luck announces they're closing after just a few months

Wishes + Luck was an instant hit when it opened this spring on Commercial Drive, replacing the popular Lear Faye, and shining with their west coast cuisine and great brunch. Sadly, the restaurant announced today that they would not be re-opening following a brief and unexpected closure last week.

The restaurant, run by Ciaran Chung and Dolly Reno, posted the news to their social media accounts account Wednesday afternoon:

I’m sure some of you have been wondering when we’ll be back up and running but it’s with a heavy heart that we tell you Wishes + Luck will not be reopening.
We want to say a huge Thank You to everyone who’s been apart of this journey with us. Wishes + Luck was more than just a restaurant, it was a sweet little spot we’d call a home away from home where strangers became friends who ultimately felt like family and we are forever grateful to have been gifted with that beautiful experience.
We appreciate all the love and support you’ve shown us over the past while and ‘Wish you the best of Luck’ in all your future endeavours.

Reno had been a part of the Lear Faye Espresso Kitchen, and, paired with Chung (whose credits include Gastown’s L’Abattoir), opened Wishes + Luck in April.

Customers heading to the recent over the past week or so found a note on the door indicating they were closed temporarily, but would re-open soon. In fact, our plans to check out the lunch service at Wishes + Luck were thwarted by this sudden closure, too. In her July 2 review, The Sun’s Mia Stainsby noted the couple’s “modest approach” to design and cuisine at Wishes + Luck, and lauded the restaurant’s affordable “delicious dishes.”
