Winter snowshoeing at Mount Seymour

Dec 19 2017, 5:46 pm

With Vancouver getting another dose of winter, you’re probably looking for some fun winter activities before they all end for the season, and before the spring season drifts in.

So, here’s a list of some fun snowshoeing that can be found on Mount Seymour (in no particular order) to enjoy during the next week or so!

Snowshoe Tours at Mt. Seymour

Discovery Tour

This tour introduces snowshoe-enthusiasts to the basics of snowshoeing, while revealing some of Mt. Seymour’s best snowshoeing trails, and teaching participants the most important thing: nature’s winter survival tips. The Discovery Tour is suitable for all abilities and levels.

Mt. Seymour offers this two-hour guided tour of the Discovery Snowshoe Trail at 1 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday. But since it is a drop-in program, participants are asked to arrive by 12:45 p.m.

Twilight Tour

Enjoy snowshoeing after hours in the mystical twilight on their Discovery Snowshoe Trails.

This tour is similar to the Discovery Tour; the only difference is that guests will use their “night vision to spot the signs of the active nocturnal wildlife!” This tour is also suitable for all abilities and levels.

Since there are “a limited number” of headlamps available, Twilight Tour participants are asked to bring their headlamp, if they have one.

This tour also includes:

  • Snowshoe tour guide;
  • Snowshoe rental and trail pass; and,
  • Hot apple cider that’s served following the tour

The Twilight Tour starts at 4 p.m. every Saturday. Like the Discovery Tour, it lasts two-hours.

  • Youth (13-18): $27 per person
  • Adults (19-64): $32 per person

Chocolate Fondue

“Enjoy the enchantment of a Saturday evening snowshoe tour as you explore the magic of winter under the night sky. This guided experience will lead you through rolling forested trails to a hand-carved snow lounge where you will indulge in a delicious chocolate fondue featuring fresh-cut fruit and a special treat for dipping.

Your guide will share fun facts and stories about chocolate and the fondue tradition while you dip your way to chocolate heaven!”

Now, how perfect does that sound?!

The Chocolate Fondue tour includes:

  • Snowshoe guide;
  • Snowshoe rental and trail pass;
  • Chocolate fondue and fresh fruit for dipping; and,
  • Hot apple cider served following the tour

Since Mt. Seymour has a limited number of headlamps available, guests are asked to bring their own headlamps, if they own one, of course!

This tour is open to people 13+. The 2.5 hour long tour starts at 7 p.m. every Saturday, and guests are asked to arrive by 6:45 p.m.

This tour’s rate is $57 per person. Participants can receive $5 off for bringing their own snowshoes.

Anyone interested in this tour is required to pre-register by 3 p.m. the day before the tour by calling 604-986-2261. If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, let the Mt. Seymour staff know.

***A limited number of Ergo and other baby carriers are available for demo on a first-come first-served basis.
