It’s important to have a go-to wine for entertaining large groups of people. This wine should be easily accessible, inexpensive and enjoyable by multiple groups of people. In other words, it should be ‘easy to drink.’ This means that the wine’s flavours are adaptable with different types of foods, and enjoyable on its own. Sauvignon Blanc is a popular varietal, especially at parties, due to its crisp taste and easy to drink nature. The New Harbour Sauvignon Blanc fits all the characteristics of a wine that would be great for parties, and I would suggest keeping a few bottles on hand for that last minute shindig.
This wine can be paired with a variety of foods. I would suggest it with anything green – a spinach salad, roasted or grilled asparagus, an arugula salad or even kale chips. Also, it is great paired with lighter fish, grilled or roast chicken and scallops. According to Julia Child (the mother of French cooking), Sauvignon Blanc is great with basic pork chops. I can attest to this, as I tried the pairing and it was great! The best part about this wine is that it can be enjoyed on a warm day, on a patio, under the sun. It’s that easy to drink!
This wine is extremely crisp and refreshing and light in colour (reflected in its light taste). There are green apple notes on the nose and mineral notes on the tongue when you taste it. It’s a little sour in the sense that it makes your mouth water. The taste reflects the green apple scent but with a little bit of added citrus. There is a nice finish on this wine – it is light, yet lingering.
