After constantly reading about this wine, I finally went out and bought it to try. It was in a lot of magazines as a very good “value” wine and I wanted to see if it lived up to expectation. It absolutely did. This is an amazing wine to bring to a host, drink on a regular Wednesday night and even give to a friend. This wine (and it’s price at $21.95) won’t disappoint.
Food pairings
I paired this wine with one of my favourite simple recipes, Cherry Tomato Pasta. It was light enough not to overpower the tomato sauce, but also flavourful enough to enhance the acidity and brightness in the fresh pasta. I think it would also be very nice with Italian cheeses and lighter soups heading into the fall.
Flavour profile
While it may seem redundant, this red wine is full of..you guessed it…red fruit! It is light on the mouth, but still packs a flavourful punch that lingers after you have a couple of sips. Commonly well rated, there are hints of acidity and even a little woody undertone. It may still be summer, but we’re ready for some cool nights sipping this beauty!
Happy #WineWednesday!
