Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Metro Vancouver this evening and it’s expected to last until tomorrow.
Residents in the region can expect “very strong” wind gusts of up to 90 km/h tonight and through the late hours of Thursday morning, according to the federal agency. However, strong blustery winds are expected to remain throughout Thursday.
Given the conditions, high winds could cause objects to come loose or tree branches to break.
Heavy rainfall is also expected, with accumulations of up to 30 mm this evening and 25 mm tomorrow. Drivers are urged to exercise caution and yield to pedestrians.
At the time of publication, there has only been one major power outage in the region. Approximately 1,300 B.C. Hydro customers are without power in West Vancouver, within an area framed by south of Cypress Bowl, east of Oxley Street, north of Bellevue Avenue, and west of 21st Street.
