Listen to inspiring speakers like William Shatner at UBC's future focused event

UBC is celebrating its centennial year with an event showcasing inspiring Canadians and their unique perspectives.

UBC100: What’s Next? takes place happening on May 28, and will authenticate the notion that great things happen when our brightest minds have the freedom to explore. Each speaker will look at how a thirst for exploration can contribute to strong connections between people, nations, and disciplines.

Iconic Canadian actor William Shatner will deliver a highly anticipated speech, discussing the role curiosity plays in shaping our lives. He’ll seek to explore the possibilities that await us if we’re willing to step outside of our comfort zones, take chances, and try new things.

Canadian Paralympian, activist, and philanthropist Rick Hansen will also be speaking at the event. The CEO of the Rick Hansen Foundation, which has raised more than $300 million dollars for disability-related programs, will challenge attendees to analyze their own attitudes and question the barriers that may be holding them back from reaching their full potential.

Canadian environmental activist Tzeporah Berman will discuss how major technological advances and the dramatic drop in the price of renewable energy will impact and benefit our environment.
