Thomas Müller had a request for Vancouver Whitecaps fans, and it looks like they’ve listened.
The German soccer star wanted BC Place packed for their playoff game against FC Dallas, but fans are taking things to another level ahead of the Whitecaps’ next postseason contest.
A Whitecaps spokesperson told Daily Hive on Tuesday that over 42,000 tickets have already been sold for the club’s next playoff match against LAFC.
That’s already a steep increase from Monday, when 33,000 tickets had been sold.
At this rate, with the game not taking place until Nov. 22, the Whitecaps have almost three weeks remaining to officially sell out BC Place.
That would be the first playoff sellout in team history.
Heck, their best playoff crowd ever occurred in the first round, when 32,066 fans were in attendance at BC Place to watch the Whitecaps beat FC Dallas 3-0.
Vancouver followed that up with a road win against Dallas to sweep the series, setting them up to battle LAFC for the third straight year in the playoffs.
If they beat LAFC, they will advance to the MLS Western Conference Final for the first time in their history.
Recent crowds for 50,000-plus for Whitecaps games have been due to the Lionel Messi effect. Over 53,000 tickets were sold for a CONCACAF match between Vancouver and Inter Miami back in May, while over 51,000 fans attended Messi’s no-show in May of 2024.

Capacity at BC Place on Nov. 22 is expected to be around 52,000 to 53,000 due to some minor construction.
While a sellout on the horizon seems likely, this is already shaping up to be the best attended MLS-era game for the Whitecaps for a contest that didn’t feature Messi.
