The Vancouver Whitecaps are set to open up the MLS Cup Playoffs this weekend, and it just got a little easier for fans to watch the games.
Things are a bit more difficult for fans in the playoffs as TSN is only broadcasting Game 2 of the Whitecaps’ first round matchup against FC Dallas. The rest of the best-of-three series will be shown on the Apple TV streaming service.
Usually, to watch MLS games, fans would need to buy MLS Season Pass, which retails for a hefty $129 a season, for those not already subscribed to Apple TV. If you do have an Apple TV subscription, that price would drop down to $99 a season.
Luckily, to help make things easier, Apple TV and MLS have made it so fans no longer need to buy the Season Pass to watch playoff games. Now, all you need to watch is a valid subscription to Apple TV, which costs $14.99 a month and comes with a free seven-day trial.
The Whitecaps are looking to win their first-ever MLS Cup this season. They finished second in the Western Conference and have looked dangerous all season long. The midseason acquisition of German footballer Thomas Müller has supercharged both the team and fanbase heading into the postseason.
FC Dallas, who finished seventh in the West, will be their first test. The Whitecaps split the season series, having lost the latest matchup just this past weekend. Now, they will look to avenge that loss with a best-of-three playoff series that is slated to begin on Sunday.
The series schedule is as follows:
- Game 1: Sunday, Oct. 26 at Vancouver
- Game 2: Saturday, Nov. 1 at Dallas
- Game 3 (if necessary): Friday, Nov. 7 at Vancouver
It’s been an unforgettable regular season for the Whitecaps, but the hope is that they are far from finished.
