The Vancouver Whitecaps will be without Masato Kudo for the foreseeable future after the Japanese striker suffered a fractured jaw in last night’s 2-1 win against the Chicago Fire.
Kudo is scheduled to undergo surgery and there is no timetable on his return to the lineup.
From today’s Whitecaps media release:
Masato would like thank all supporters, fans, family, friends, and members of the soccer community for their outpouring of support.
Kudo was injured in a violent collision in the 11th minute of last night’s match with Chicago goaltender Matt Lampson. Lampson expressed remorse immediately following the game.
Apologies, well wishes and a speedy recovery to @masatokudo9 . I Hate to see injuries like that happen. #brothersinsoccer @mls @WhitecapsFC

The Whitecaps will head to Toronto for Saturday’s match against TFC, but clearly Kudo’s health was top of mind for his teammates.
Toronto bound. Thinking of @masatokudo9 and his family right now. Be sure to send well wishes his way. #OneToughSamurai
