It’s been an offseason of change for the Vancouver Whitecaps.
They have a new head coach, and they’re searching for a new owner. But they haven’t done much to improve their roster and haven’t adequately replaced the departed Fafa Picault.
That may be changing, though.
The Whitecaps are close to acquiring a promising player, according to multiple reports, including the one shown below by MLS insider Tom Bogert. It appears Anderson Duarte will be heading to Vancouver on loan from Liga MX club Toluca in Mexico.
Duarte is a 20-year-old forward/winger from Uruguay who was acquired by Toluca in August for a US$3.86 million fee.

Duarte has represented Uruguay internationally at the U23, U20, and U15 levels. He led his team in goals (3) at the U20 World Cup in 2023, which Uruguay won for the first time.
