Whistler RCMP are investigating two stabbings that occurred in as many days, one fatal and the most recent sending one man to hospital with multiple stab wounds.

Just prior to midnight on Sunday, May 17, RCMP were called to Whistler Way where one 19-year-old victim had been stabbed multiple times. The victim was immediately treated at a nearby clinic then transported to Vancouver for treatment.

“At this time there is nothing to indicate that this incident was related to the incident on Saturday night,” said Whistler RCMP Sergeant Rob Knapton.

Just before 1 a.m. on Sunday, May 17, Whistler RCMP responded to a man with severe life-threatening injuries on Main Street in Whistler Village. The victim was transported to Whistler Health Care Centre, but he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment. The man was a resident of the Lower Mainland and his identity has been withheld at this time.

The cause of the death has not been released, but a number of people have been taking into police custody.

RCMP are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed either incident, or has information related to it. Anyone with information can contact Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
