Whistler named the Best Ski Resort In The World by Ultratravel UK

The Daily Telegraph’s Ultratravel UK magazine has named Whistler as the Best Ski Resort in the World.

Readers of the quarterly British luxury travel magazine voted for their favourite destinations, hotels and cruise lines. The resort was voted the ‘Best Ski Resort in the World’ and the award itself was announced during an recognition event in London on Monday.

“It is a great achievement for Whistler that – with all the wonderful ski resorts in the world to choose from – Ultratravel readers has voted Whistler as the best in the 2014 reader survey,” said Nick Perry, Chairman, Ultratravel Unlimited.

“We are thrilled that Whistler has been recognized by readers of Ultratravel UK magazine as the best ski resort in the world,” said Barrett Fisher, Tourism Whistler’s President & CEO.

“Whistler continues to be acknowledged around the globe with accolades from our guests and our peers,” she said. “The success of Whistler is a result of our combined efforts as a community and a resort. We are fortunate to have a strong business community that is aligned in their commitment to service excellence.”

This year’s best ski resort runner-ups were Meribel (France), Val d’lsere (France), Verbier (Switzerland), and Zermatt (Switzerland).

Whistler has North America’s biggest vertical drop and is amongst the world’s largest ski resorts with a terrain of 8,171 acres (more than eight times the area of Stanley Park).

The Ultratravel award follows a string of recent accolades for the resort and various local businesses so far in 2014, including:
