Soaring high above Whistler’s valley floor, the Peak 2 Peak Gondola has carried over two million visitors to Whistler Blackcomb since its 2008 launch. Now Peak 2 Peak can add Guinness World Record holder, twice over, to its accomplishments.

In the 2015 Edition of the Guinness World Records Book, the gondola is recognized record-holder for “highest cable car above ground” (436 metres) and “longest unsupported span between two cable car towers,” (3.024 kilometres). Riders are transported from peak to peak in an impressive 11 minutes.

“The PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola has been groundbreaking, not only in improving the experience of our guests, but in proving that anything is possible at Whistler Blackcomb,” says Doug Forseth, Vice President of Government Relations and Special Projects at Whistler Blackcomb.

Forseth says from the get-go, Whistler Blackcomb knew the Peak 2 Peak Gondola was “something that had never been done before.”

Even when the slopes aren’t covered in ski-worthy snow, the Peak 2 Peak Gondola is still a fantastic attraction for visitors to Whistler, thanks to the breathtaking 360-degree views of Whistler Village, mountain peaks, lakes, glaciers and forests the ride affords.
