What are you doing this weekend? If you’ve been yearning to hit the slopes at Whistler Blackcomb, the resort will be opening up five days ahead of schedule this season thanks to some chilly temperatures of late.

Initially slated for a November 27 open, Whistler Blackcomb has announced they’ll be up and running on Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 8:30am to 3pm. The resort says their last upload will be at 2 p.m., and that Blackcomb Mountain and the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola will open on Thursday, November 27th.

CBC Vancouver explains:

An early snowfall at higher elevations, followed by perfect conditions for snowmaking, means the ski resort can open Whistler Mountain five days ahead of schedule — with five lifts running.

Whistler Mountain’s early debut follows closely those at the North Shore mountains, with Cypress and Grouse getting the season going on November 15.
