When and where Vancouver Whitecaps will play in the Concacaf Champions Cup Final

The Vancouver Whitecaps are about to play one of their biggest games in franchise history.

The club has advanced to the final of the Concacaf Champions Cup. Along the way, they’ve knocked off Lionel Messi and Inter Miami and two strong teams from Mexico.

This has set up a final matchup against Cruz Azul, who are currently in third place in the Liga MX table. If the Whitecaps win, they’ll be crowned the best club team in North America.

The final is just one game and will take place on June 1. The Whitecaps were close to being able to host the big game, which would’ve been one of the most important soccer games ever at BC Place. However, because Cruz Azul won the second leg of their semifinal 1-0, they surpassed the Whitecaps in tournament points and earned the right to host.

Therefore, the game will take place in Mexico City at Cruz Azul’s home stadium, the Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes. It holds more than 34,000 fans.

Playing on the road in Mexico will be tough for the Whitecaps, but they’ve pulled out some big results in that same situation during this tournament thus far. They tied CF Monterrey in Mexico during the Round of 16 to advance on away goals and did the same against Pumas UNAM to advance through the quarter-final.

Winning the Concacaf Champions Cup would be a massive achievement for a team that is soaring at the perfect moment. New manager Jesper SĂžrensen has the Whitecaps playing at a very high level as they sit atop the MLS table alongside this deep run in continental play.

Brian White has been clutch for the Whitecaps, scoring numerous big goals. His five goals in this competition are tied with Messi for second among all players. Cruz Azul has a prolific goal scorer of their own in Ángel SepĂșlveda, who has seven tallies, best among all players in Concacaf Champions Cup play.
