What to wear on your Valentine’s Day date

It’s finally here. You’ve gone all out and planned a romantic dinner for two with the works – candles, champagne and flowers. Or maybe you’re headed out with a group of friends for fun night out on the town.

Whether you’re going to be dressed-up, dressed-down, or somewhere in-between, we’re going to help you out with some tips on what to wear on your Valentine’s Day date.

Going fancy? We appreciate the effort it takes to get all dressed-up for what is one of the most commercialized days of the year. But if you’re going to take her/him out for the occasion you might as well dress to impress.

Gentlemen: You don’t have to don an all-black suit to get it right, though if you do, try one with a pinstripe in a slim cut. You can throw on a charcoal or navy wool blazer with black trousers, a colorful tie or bow-tie, and a crisp white shirt and call it a night.

Ladies: Wear that dress. You know, the one that you’ve been saving in the closet for a special day or the one that you wore one time to a wedding that hasn’t seen the light of day for months. Pile on a statement necklace and a cocktail ring to finish your look.

Just because you’re staying in for a home-cooked meal or you’re catching a movie in the comfort of your own home, doesn’t mean you should wear those sweatpants.

Gentlemen: Pair your dark denim jeans with a t-shirt and cardigan or wear a printed button-down shirt. It also wouldn’t kill you to put on a pair of clean (and perhaps patterned) socks.

Ladies: Be comfortable tonight in your favorite pair of jeans. You can decide whether you want to dazzle in an easy breezy silk blouse, button-down denim top or striped t-shirt.

Somewhere In-Between

You might be going out to a casual restaurant or headed over to a friend’s house, so there is no need to suit it up. However, if you’re going to go out, why not be the best dressed and the life of the party?

Gentlemen: The best thing about summer chinos is that they come in different colors like mustard yellow, wine and forest green. If you’re not that adventurous grab a pair in navy to wear with a crewneck sweater or patterned button-down shirt.

Ladies: Studs, leather and lace – this is where all the fun happens. Take a cocktail length dress and wear it with a leather jacket or leather-trimmed blazer. Or make a statement in leather pants or skinny jeans and studded jean jacket and lace top.

Regardless of where you are going and what you are wearing, we hope that you have an amazing time. From all of us at Wantering, we wish you and your loved ones a very Happy Valentine’s Day!
