A 19-year-old West Vancouver ‘N’ driver was found buried in the mud on Highway 1 in Burnaby due to driving too fast.
According to the BC Highway Patrol, on Feb. 13, an ambulance driver reported that a black Hyundai sedan was driving too fast on the Gagliardi Way onramp. They added that the driver had sped right off the highway.
BC Highway Patrol found the 19-year-old ‘N’ driver and his 19-year-old friend in the mud-stuck vehicle without injuries. The patrol had found that the driver lost traction in wet conditions, taking his mom’s car “deep into the mud.”
For his muddy speeding situation, the 19-year-old West Vancouver driver was given a $167 ticket for speeding.
BC Highway Patrol said he was also given a ride to safety, and the address of the tow truck company where his mom’s car was towed to.
“The driver will have to figure out his own way to break the news to mom,” a release from BC Highway Patrol said.
“Slowing down is a good way for new drivers to improve their skills, reduce costs, and avoid a humiliating conversation with mom,” it added.
