West Georgia Water Main Replacement Means Traffic Nightmare

Dec 19 2017, 4:24 pm

A big road construction project begins on West Georgia Street today (Monday September 23, 2013), and this means traffic will be a nightmare for people that use West Georgia as route in and out of the city.

West Georgia is already heavily backed up during rush hour and this construction will exacerbate the issues.

City of Vancouver crews will be replacing an aging water main, thus resulting in some lane closures. Two lanes will be open to traffic in each direction and drivers may experience traffic delays during construction. The City is cautioning drivers to use alternate routes. Expect a heavy back up on Alberni and Pender.

Parking restrictions will be in effect throughout construction and will be removed as soon they are no longer needed.

Location: 1100-1500 blk West Georgia Street (from Thurlow Street to Cardero Street)

Expected duration

  • Start: Monday, September 23, 2013
  • End: Saturday, November 30, 2013

Hours of work

  • Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 6:00pm (may include weekend work)
