After the death of 29-year-old Vancouver resident Kyle Vincent Gabriel in the city’s West End neighbourhood last month, a 23-year-old man has now been charged in connection with the case.

On Friday morning, police said Yasin Rashid has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Kyle Vincent Gabriel. Rashid is expected to make a “brief” court appearance today, as well.

The investigation began on September 10, when police say they were called 1125 Pendrell, Street just after 8 pm, “following an incident between two males.”

Upon their arrival, officers found Gabriel inside the residence, suffering from injuries. he was taken to hospital, where he later died.

Rashid was arrested the next day on unrelated charges and has remained in custody since that time.

This was Vancouver’s seventh homicide of 2019.
