Weekend Date: South Granville Hop

If you haven’t already jumped on the VcB weekend date night idea that is posted every Friday night, it’s about time you should. Sitting at home watching The Real Housewives of Vancouver and drowning your face in 2 for 1 pizza’s for the fourth Friday in a row is probably old news.

Don’t worry, we are here to save your sanity and relationship!

This week is going to highlight a couple of ideas that mix into one perfect date parfait, topped with a dash of dinner, a cup of theatre, and a spoonful of sugar all in the lovely heart of South Granville.

Start your date off at Vancouver’s original New Orleans restaurant. Ouisi has been serving authentic Cajun and Creole since 1994 on Granville Street and has constantly reeled in guests for their famous genuine Louisiana alligator bites, cornmeal crusted salmon fillet, black bean soup, and gulf prawns sautéed. In addition to the sexy spiciness of the food, there are daily drink specials including single malts and bourbons that light up the menu and quickly satisfy those end of the week cravings. The live music contributes to the warm and engaging atmosphere with a southern feel, enhancing the food, drink, and he or she sitting across from you.

After dinner, stumble down little less than three blocks away with your sweetie to the Stanley Theatre, and get a chance to experience a fiesta of fun with local performers re-telling the story of Buddy Holly. The Arts Club presents, “Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story”, starring Zachary Stevenson. Zachary has been named one of the top ten talents in Vancouver this year and is an accomplished singer, songwriter, actor, and multi-instrumentalist that accurately nails the rock ‘n’ roll legend right into a remarkable full-throttle tribute. This is the last weekened to see the show, so book your tickets now! “Oh boy!”

After your ears have been filled with the rockin’ sounds of good ol’ Buddy Holly, it doesn’t mean your night doesn’t have to come to an end. Mosey on down another 6 blocks to Cheesecake Etc to top off the evening with a slice of homemade cheesecake and a cup of coffee or tea, and place the cherry ontop of the perfect date parfait!
