Vancouver

• Doing all of Canada proud, Vancouver’s Kaitlyn Stewart has been named world’s best bartender. The global cocktail competition took place in Mexico City and tested the top 55 competitors’ skills in a series of challenges.
• Toronto might be home to some super cute dim sum, but near Vancouver, a restaurant just upped the ante with emoji-themed buns.

Calgary

• Calgary Pride is on this weekend and the city is suddenly swathed in rainbows. Menus are no exception, find multi-hued bagels, macarons, and more festive eats available all weekend long.
• Women Chefs & Restaurateurs is hosting a one-day conference centered around the best and brightest women in the food and beverage industry this September. Over 300 delegates are expected to attend.

Montreal

• Grocery store brand of beef patties, Lloydie’s is opening its first eatery where it will serve West Indian staples like oxtail poutine and jerk chicken meals.

Toronto

• A steakhouse inside Casa Loma is set to open any day now meaning you can now eat like a royal while visiting this iconic Toronto landmark.
• Celebrity chef Susur Lee has found himself in damage control after employees alleged that tips were being withheld to offset mistakes, walk-outs, kitchen errors, etc. On the bright side, it would seem that the restaurant is going to make it right with the workers.
