Weather forecast predicts Vancouver could be hit with snow soon

While some weather forecasts differ, one suggests that Vancouver might see its first snowfall of the season this week.

According to the weather app on Apple, it predicts a little bit of snow will fall on Tuesday in Vancouver.

“There will be 12 mm of snowfall with a total of 15 mm of liquid equivalent precipitation,” the forecast reads.

While it’s by far a glorious snowfall, and the app is showing the temperature for the day as low as 1°C, we’re curious if it could be an accurate prediction.

Environment and Climate Change Canada does not mention snow in its forecast. Still, as of now, a snowfall warning is in effect for Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt from Sunday into Monday. It’s already been snowing in the area this weekend, and ECCC said it expects an additional 5 to 15 cm of snow to fall.

“Snow levels are currently around 1200 m early this morning with lower elevations seeing a transition to rain,” ECCC said around 4 am Sunday. “However, snow levels will fall down to 500 by late morning, resulting in more snow along the mountain pass. While the main band has moved through the area, flurries will persist now through Monday afternoon, with most of the snowfall anticipated now through this evening.”

Meanwhile, ECCC forecasts lots of rain for this week in Vancouver during the day and night.

This week, daytime temperatures are expected to range from °6C to 10°C, while nighttime temperatures could drop to as low as 3°C to 6°C.
