Warrant issued for man who attempted to murder his family by setting house on fire

Langley RCMP has now obtained an arrest warrant for Andre Harvey Richard for breaching his condition of no contact with his estranged wife.

These circumstances relate to this morning’s attempted murder/house fire in the Willowbrook Area. 

Police were called just after 1:00 a.m. this morning to a residence in the 19600 block of Wakefield Drive after a mother and her two children fled their home which was now on fire. Police believe the estranged husband broke into the home and started the fire before entering his wife’s bedroom and assaulting her with a weapon.

The woman’s daughter attempted to intervene and was also struck with the weapon. The woman, her daughter and son were all able to escape the residence prior to it becoming fully engulfed.

The victims are in stable condition, recovering in hospital and receiving support from Langley RCMP Client Support and Victim Services.

Richard is a 44-year old male described as Caucasian, 5’8 tall, 201 lbs. heavy build with very short dark hair and possibly facial hair. He is associated to a 2006 Grey Saturn Relay (passenger minivan) with British Columbia License plate 804 HWC.
