If you’re hoping for some snow and winter weather in the forecast, conditions in Metro Vancouver and across much of the province are certainly not ripe for it.

Several weather warnings are in place across the province, and none of them are about cold weather.

As of 4 p.m. on Dec. 15, 28 records were broken across B.C. and Metro Vancouver, with all of those locations reaching daily temperature maximums.

Vancouver and Richmond saw new temperature maximums of 15.7˚C. Both cities beat a record of 13.3˚C set in 1962. Records in both areas have been kept since 1896.

West Vancouver saw a new high of 13.2˚C, beating a record of 11˚C set in 1980.

White Rock reached a new high of 14.7˚C on Dec. 15, beating a record of 13.3˚C set in 1976.

One of the oldest records that was broken was in Revelstoke, which saw a new high of 8.2˚C on Dec. 15, beating a record of 6.7˚C set in 1917, 108 years ago.

The place that got the warmest on Dec. 15 was the Kamloops area, which saw temperatures reminiscent of summer. The Kamloops area saw a temperature of 18.6˚C, besting the old record of 13.3˚C set in 1962.

In the same period of time, on top of the warmer weather, some parts of B.C. were hit with extreme amounts of rain. For example, the Squamish area was hit with 190 mm. The Coquihalla Summit saw 78 mm of rain fall. In West Vancouver, 48 mm of rain fell.

Looking forward to the seven-day forecast, Environment and Climate Change Canada does predict that temperatures will drop over the next week, with a chance of rain showers or flurries in the forecast next weekend.

Before that, the weather over the next 48 hours is expected to be windy and stormy in Metro Vancouver, with the chance of thundershowers both overnight tonight and tomorrow morning.
