It was reported that AMC had ordered two seasons of The Walking Dead spinoff after the pilot filmed earlier this year in Los Angeles. According to Season Zero, the television series will shoot in Vancouver through the spring and summer.

“The shooting is expected to start in early April for a likely launch this summer, as a bridge between season 5 and season 6 of The Walking Dead,” writes Season Zero. “Production will move from Los Angeles for the pilot to Vancouver, Canada, for the remainder of the first season.”

The first season will be six episodes long and will start from the very beginning of the outbreak. It will be based in Los Angeles and all the characters will be new to the series.

It will star Kim Dickens (Gone Girl) playing a guidance counsellor and mother of two teenagers, played by Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey. Cliff Curtis (Trauma) will play a ‘good-hearted man’ in his 40s with a rebellious teenage son.

The series is scheduled to air on AMC in the summer of 2015.
