Vancouver Police pursuing one last Stanley Riot suspect who fled to Australia

Dec 19 2017, 6:55 pm

It has been nearly three years since numerous individuals turned the streets of downtown Vancouver into a war zone, and to this day the legal process against those responsible for the mayhem and damage still continues.

Since the last update on the riot investigation, the Vancouver Police Department has identified and requested charges be laid against an additional 15 rioters. They have recommended 1,263 charges against 365 suspected rioters. Out of the 298 charges that have been approved by Crown, 260 of them have made a guilty plea.

Police are still looking for one riot suspect – Michelle Scarce, a 33-year-old rioter who worked at Whistler at the time was identified, accused, and charged with offences related to the riot. She was working in Whistler at the time of the riots, but fled to Australia after her photos appeared online and was terminated from her job. She is wanted Canada-wide for participating in the riot and mischief.

The VPD, with the help of other police agencies, will continue to monitor those who have been charged and convicted to ensure they comply with court orders.
