A 17-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted at a bus stop on Hastings Street on Saturday night, and the Vancouver Police Department is looking for anyone who may have witnessed the altercation.

At around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, the boy was exiting an eastbound Hastings Street bus at Renfew Street wearing a backpack and carrying a skateboard when a man allegedly pulled him from the bus and began beating him.

After knocking the victim to the ground and threatening him, the perpetrator took the victim’s backpack and skateboard and told the boy to leave.

The 17-year-old returned to the scene a short time later to find the alleged still at the bus stop. He then left the area and called his mother, who then called the police. He was later treated in hospital for bruises and a cut to the face.

Police are looking for help finding the man, who is described as white, 40-years-old, six feet tall and about 220 pounds. He was wearing a black baseball cap, black leather jacket, jeans and black Adidas running shoes.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Vancouver Police at (604) 717-3321 or Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
