VPD warn of alleged sexual assault involving 17-year-old in Vancouver's West Side

A 17-year-old girl was the victim of a sexual assault on Tuesday evening in Vancouver’s West Side, police say.

The VPD report in a statement that she was walking home after a sporting event at Churchhill Secondary School.

The incident took place at around 6 pm on West 54th avenue between Montgomery Street and Osler Street. She was allegedly grabbed from behind by an unknown man. Fortunately, she was able to fight him off and run away.

The suspect is described as very tall and was wearing all black clothing at the time of the incident.

Police are now asking the public for information, as well as dashcam footage. Investigators are looking for vehicles equipped with factory video surveillance, specifically a Tesla, that were in the area of West 54th Avenue and Oak Street on Tuesday around 6 pm.
