Alex S Yu

This young designer launched his debut collection at VFW S/S 2015 as winner of NICHE Magazine’s Emerging Designer competition from a starting pool of thirteen designers. He is a talented designer who creates garments that explore the fine line between reality and fantasy. After his showcase in September 2014, he received press from Vogue UK, Glamour UK and Elle Italia. He was also invited to show at New York Fashion Week and celebrities in Taiwan wore pieces from the collection for concerts and television shows.
Alex S Yu, Niche Magazine, mean girls, fashion, designerHis F/W 2015 collection entitled ‘The Sweet Sixteen’ finds inspiration in the often capricious teenage angst and the cult movie ‘Mean Girls.’ The appeal of pop culture and its pin-ups and media darlings intrigues and inspires Alex to design in a reverse way. This season he designs for a woman who is longing to be young again, to live naively, freely and worry-free and to remember that it’s okay to break some rules and have some fun.

Paloma Sanchez

Paloma Sanchez, jewellery, designer, vfwPaloma Sanchez is devoted full-time to searching for the loveliest stones from around the world, and then honouring their uniqueness with exquisite design.

Paloma’s travels for unique stones have taken her to the mines of Montana and Arizona in the U.S., Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Morocco, China, Colombia, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Mozambique, Dominican Republic and Madagascar. Sometimes their natural rough form is breathtaking enough to showcase with little interpretation, while others can be polished to reveal their fierce inner lights. It’s this inner brilliance that Paloma loves to capture in her jewellery.

Kate Miles

Kate Miles, dress, designer, vfwAt 15 years of age, Kate says that colour and texture have always been like another language to her. She reads them like poetry. Feeling the drape and movement of a fabric, she lets the dress just take shape in her mind. Her designs are always a juxtaposition of vintage and modern. Taking the delicate fabrics and laces from old garments and pairing them with newer and bolder aspects to create timeless pieces that are exciting and eco-friendly at the same time.

Hans Gallo Pohl

Hans Gallo Pohl, chilean, designer, fashion, menswear, vfwAt 23 years of age Hans becomes the director and designer of his brand HANSPOHL, one of the few menswear brands in Chile. All of his designs are 100 per cent made in Chile and each design is distinguished by Han’s personal touch, based on the mixture of geometric figures and unique textiles. Hans initiates the creative process by doing research and finding new inspiration and according to the theme and concept he begins his design journey.
