Last chance to cast your vote for Canadian filmmaking

Dec 19 2017, 8:53 pm

With less than a week to go before STORYHIVE closes, make sure to get your votes in time to support the next generation of filmmaking in Vancouver.

After a fierce few weeks of showing and promoting, STORYHIVE content creators are on the home stretch. They’re all fighting for a coveted spot in the top fifteen, a chance to see their concept into movie-making reality, all to the sweet sum of a $10,000 grant from STORYHIVE, a TELUS initiative. Even more sweet is the Grand Prize during a later stage of voting, where the top 15 compete again for an additional $50,000 in order to produce a full web series.

Why vote?

Filmmakers come from all walks in life, and while many dream big, the path from initial idea to big picture screen can be a long and challenging one. Many are tackling conventional issues in our local communities, shining a light on stories that haven’t been told yet. From within the competition’s four genres (Documentary, Instructional, Fiction, Animation), 15 top stories that resonate most with Vancouverites will take the prize.

With more than 120 web series pilots across B.C., your voice is crucial in supporting Canadian content and the stories that get made.

How to vote

  • Sign up at storyhive.com using email or social logins (Twitter or Facebook).
  • You get a total of 10 votes, and can allocate up to 5 of those for a single project. Vote for two projects, or spread your vote around? It’s entirely up to you!
  • Watch video pilots, assess project details, view team bios and other information on each project’s dedicated fan page.
  • Click “VOTE” on your favourite pitch that you would like to see be awarded $10K!

The second voting period of STORYHIVE closes December 1. The top 15 pilots from Metro Vancouver and Victoria to each receive a $10,000 production grant plus distribution on TELUS Optik TV On Demand. More information on the STORYHIVE website.
