Take a virtual trip to the bottom of the ocean

Dec 19 2017, 5:12 pm

As part of the Vancouver Aquarium’s latest feature, Luminescence: A celebration of aquatic light, visitors can explore the dark depths of the ocean through its new deep-dive exhibit in the Tropic Zone.

Using a scrolling wheel, the new digital experience allows visitors to immerse themselves in the ocean, travelling thousands of metres from the surface to the abyss where darkness reigns.

See what happens to the ocean when sunlight disappears and what kind of aquatic animals live in the deepest parts of the planet. Discover the human-made treasures that lie in the darkness of the sea, like the Titanic, or compare the ocean’s depths to the height of landmark buildings and mountains.

Visit the Vancouver Aquarium during Luminescence to see the new deep-dive exhibit, the Jelly Swarm light display, the electric-eel-powered tree, and more.
