Sunday June 19, 2011 the Vancouver chapter of YES!+ Canada is organizing a high-spirited, full-throttle Flash Mob to showcase the true spirit of Vancouverites and bring joy and peace back to our beautiful city. Yes!+ has invited youth from around Vancouver to come dance the message of peace and non- violence on the steps of the Vancouver Art Gallery on 750 Hornby Street at 3:30 pm.

In light of the unfortunate events that took place this week in Downtown Vancouver, the strong- willed and passionate youth from the Yes!+ Vancouver group decided that the image of our beautiful city and it’s amazing people cannot remain damaged by the selfish actions of a few individuals. “The Olympics was such a positive reflection of our city that was seen all around the world and we’ve always been known as a beautiful place with great people, so what happened this week feels like a personal attack from these individuals. Right now we all need to come together and heal our city, we want people to bring positivity and fun back to Downtown and we think this will be a great way to spread the message that what happened on Wednesday does not reflect the people of Vancouver”, explained Yes!+ member, Navi Gill.

The negative media footage from our city has been shared across the world and this event is our opportunity to remind the world that Vancouver is a joyful, peaceful and beautiful city that has unwavering support from its people. This Flash Mob will start at 3:30 pm on the steps of the Vancouver Art Gallery, and then it will be moving to selected spots around Downtown Vancouver to spread the positive message of having a stress free and violence free Vancouver.
