Vikram Vij to open Surrey Restaurant, My Shanti

Indian food and Surrey go hand in hand, and after two decades operating a successful world renowned restaurant in Vancouver, Vikram Vij will soon open a restaurant in South Surrey.

South Surrey, known as the upper scale area of Surrey, makes sense for a location. It fits with Vij’s brand more so than a restaurant in Newton or Cloverdale would. The restaurant will be located at 24th Avenue and Croydon Drive.

The restaurant, My Shanti, has a mid to late April opening date. But as we know, delays due to unforeseen construction issues could arise.

The menu’s inspiration will be derived from Vij’s travel experience to India, a trip he makes on an annual basis. The menu will rotate every season, highlighting meals from the different Indian cities he visits.

My Shanti is just one of Vij’s latest endeavours.

The current Vij’s Restaurant is scheduled to move to Cambie Street by October, with a “new concept” moving into the West 11th location. Vij has divulged very few details on his “new concept,” except to say that he expects to unveil it about seven months after the Cambie Street location is up and running.
