When the Canucks hit the ice to start the pre-season tonight against San Jose, fans won’t just be enjoying first class hockey; they will also be able to savour top quality Indian curries courtesy of Chef Vikram Vij at Rogers Arena. A selection of the curries from Vij’s own packaged meal company will be on sale on the 300 level concourse at the stadium (stand 321), thanks to a culinary partnership with ARAMARK Sports and Entertainment.

As well as traditional game night food selections, delicious Indian curries will be available to keep fans warm and full of energy, with flavours such as Curried Chicken and Chickpeas, and a vegan/vegetarian option – Navy Bean and Kale, and all served with basmati rice, and naan bread.

Vij’s first venture into stadium catering came in 2011 when he was asked to join the ranks of a number of food suppliers at BC Place when it reopened after a major renovation. Since then, sales of Indian food have been strong with BC Lions & Whitecaps fans who fill the stadium to cheer on their team.  Therefore, working with ARAMARK and Rogers Arena seemed “like a logical next step” says Vij.

“I am really excited to share my food with passionate Canucks fans at the home of hockey in Vancouver,” says Vij, co-owner of Vij’s and Rangoli restaurants in Vancouver and the creator of the Vij’s At Home frozen food line. “I know we’re hungry for the Stanley Cup this year, and I hope everyone will be hungry for my curries when the puck drops at Rogers Arena!”
