The 88th day of the year, March 28, has officially been deemed Piano Day (88 keys on a piano — get it?) and to celebrate, Vancouver pianist Nathan Shubert is releasing a music video for his original composition, “Saga Norén, Länskrim, Malmö.”

“Saga Norén, Länskrim, Malmö,” which is named for a character from the European television show, Bron, is the first single off of Shubert’s debut album — a full-length of piano compositions set to be released later this year. Though the compilation will be his first solo effort, Shubert has been a respected session player in the city for more than a decade, performing alongside artists such as No Sinner, David Newberry, and Rich Hope. The album, for which Shubert wrote music daily for six months, now moves the focus to the talented pianist as he turns a new and exciting page in his career.

Vancity Buzz is pleased to premiere the music video for “Saga Norén, Länskrim, Malmö” below.
