While many Vancouverites would welcome a good dumping of snow, the East Coast of the U.S. battened down the hatches this past weekend as a historic storm piled over 26 inches of the white stuff on Manhattan.

It was the second highest snowfall in history for Central Park and the extreme weather prompted some New Yorkers to find creative ways to spend their time.

Casey Neistat, a New York YouTube-er with almost two million subscribers decided to take advantage of the empty streets by snowboarding throughout the busy city. Being towed by a Jeep, Neistat wears a red snow suit as he weaves through the snow-covered streets, ending up in an almost-deserted Times Square.

He also meets up with a skier who joins the fun.

You know what they say – when life gives you snow…
