A video of a retiring North Surrey Secondary school teacher has gone viral after her dancing moved the world.

According to Global News, Shirley Clements went out with a bang after she danced an elaborate hip-hop routine with her students as a surprise farewell.

“[I’m] fantastically passionate about dancing,” Clements said to Global News. “I’ve been dancing since I was four years old.”

Versions of the dance video have been online since January, but it wasn’t until it was recently uploaded to EllenTube that it gained momentum.

“It’s surreal, it’s totally surreal,” said Clements. “You give something because you want to give a present to somebody and someone had said to me… that maybe you shouldn’t do the dance because people don’t know who you are. And I thought ‘well that’s it then. If I do this, they won’t forget’.”

It now has 2.2 million hits on EllenTube.

She’s so loved by her students that they call her “Mama Clements”.
