VIA Rail offering unlimited travel across Canada for just $150 this July

Talk about a birthday present.

In honour of Canada 150, VIA Rail is offering the chance to ride Canada’s famous rails across the entire country (and back again) for just $150.

From Halifax to Vancouver, Churchill to Windsor, you can sit next to the window and watch Canada role by as much and as often as you want from July 1 to 31, 2017.

Sadly, like all things too good to be true, VIA’s Canada 150 Youth Pass Fare is just that… if you’re over 25 years old, that is.

That’s right, if you were born before 1992 VIA feels you’ve had your chance to see the country and they’re not including you on this party train.

As per their conditions, the pass is only available to “travellers 12-25 years old (or 26+ with ISIC).” Basically, if you can sing along to Big Shiny Tunes, this trip isn’t for you.

That said, so many of Canada’s youth have already tried to sign up for the free ride that the website has already run into technical difficulties:

It looks like VIA didn’t pay attention to Parks Canada when they announced free passes for 2017.

If you want one of these tickets, you’re going to have to work for it. And by work for it we mean stay glued to their site for updates.

Still, that seems more than worth the effort considering this is how you could be spending your July…
