VFW F/W 2015 BUZZ! Kumar, Grama, Pash & Some Product

The Opening Gala of Vancouver Fashion Week is just days away and Jamal Abdourahman, founder and CEO of VFW, has already confirmed 45 local and international designers and seems intent on adding new names daily. It is anyone’s guess what the final number will be but for fashion devouring attendees it is just more delightful eye candy!

Amongst the top-returning designers is Shravan Kumar whose motto, ‘Fashion is religion, than mere profession’, inspired his unconventional designs and use of textiles that will definitely be the highlight of Saturday’s runway collections.

Ana Sudano is a Brazilian fashion designer who has been designing for 15 years. She has a degree in fashion design, postgraduate degree in fine arts and currently she is doing her master’s degree in design and sustainability. She has already worked for renowned Brazilian fashion brands like Animale, Grace Ottoni, Gilda Midani and Printing.

In 2014 she launched her own brand and since then she has already participated in numerous trade shows, fashion events, won awards and lectured about sustainable fashion. Her brand Grama is ecofriendly fashion for women. Her design philosophy includes Brazilian suppliers and fabrics, the use of craftsmanship, services and products from companies with strong social responsibility policies and appreciation of small producers.

Grama produces casual and desirable clothes, from flirty short sets to flowing maxi-dresses, with sophistication and quality, adding social and environmental values to the products.

Vivienne Pash is a Jamaican born, New York based fashion designer whose brand focuses on recreating 60’s luxury garments into youthful modern pieces. This year the Vivienne Pash brand unveils the Pash Kidz contemporary line for boys and girls.

After graduating with a degree in Fashion Design from The Art Institute of New York, Vivienne worked as a freelance designer for a number of outsourcing companies in New York before launching her own label in 2008.

Vivienne uses an assortment of silk, jersey, and cotton in various colors and vivid prints. Her women pieces are flirty and comfortable with just a touch of elegance and the kid’s contemporary line consists of playful athletic pieces.

Fresh from their debut of the CITY TRASH collection at Capsule Tradeshow in New York this past February, Vancouver’s Some Product Apparel is launching the Some Product Active line on March 16.
