This past June, Vancouver media and fashionistas were abuzz with the news that Versace was planning a free-standing boutique adjacent to the newly opened Brunello Cucinelli. This week, Versace finally opened its 1,875 sq. ft. store at 745 Thurlow Street with a private invitation event sponsored by Vogue.
The interiors are the brightest whites, highlighted with golden glints from the iconic Versace medusa medallions which surrounded everyone. The boutique had on display primarily items in their accessories lines, for men and women, plus a niche selection of women’s clothing including a stunning structured leather jacket that was a magnet for style bloggers.
DJ Christa Belle spun a broad selection of music kept everyone cheerful and champagne glasses clinking. Exquisite hors d’oeuvres circulated and conversation swirled around Versace and its legacy, Vancouver luxury fashion climate and international fashion weeks.
The Italian luxury fashion brand was founded by the late Gianni Versace in 1978, and it is seeing a resurgence as it opens stores around the world. Upscale Vancouver-based fashion retailer Leone currently features a Versace shop-in-store, and Versace Home opened last summer in Vancouver’s Gastown area.
